Ironhack Challenge 3 / Usability Evaluation And App Redesign
Hello ! This article is part of my documentation of my UX/UI Design Bootcamp course at Ironhack in Paris. This exercise was part of the prework course.
What i need to do :
- Choose a user persona and a trip.
- Identify the needs to find some apps that could help them on their journey and what they like.
- Find the app that might help them most and interview people with the same profile as the personas.
- Fix the pain point of the best App that they can use.
Choose a user persona and a trip
Among all the personas that were proposed I chose this one:
Young couple — 20–40 y/o (2)
You and your partner decide to go to a special place next summer. You realize you have both saved enough for the tickets and are planning to save as much as possible for the next 6 months to do this trip. You want to be efficient and have everything you need organized to enjoy at 100% while there. Even if you’re young, you want to have special moments to celebrate being together.
Our young couple of two American (25 and 27 years old) are going to Paris in six months for summer, the city of love. They always dreamed about their trip in France and they want enjoy it like true Parisians.
Identify the needs
For this trip the couple need to understand the habits of Parisians, where are the best places to go visit, eat etc…
I choose the travel app TripAdvisor, The Fork (La fourchette) and Instagram and Mapstr.
TripAdvisor is a travel planning tool that can save all the diverse places you’re interested in (including “hidden gems”), show them on a map, and even book or reserve a spot.
The Fork is a French platform for online restaurant reservations. It allows you to choose a restaurant according to the reviews of consumers, but also several criteria such as the style of cuisine, terrace or rooftop, price and so on…
As curious as it may still seem to some, Instagram and influencers have gained a place of honor in the tourism business by bringing out new travel destinations, best places and other “instagramable places”. According to the # and the geolocation of the photos, the contents of this platform is a gold mine to find the trendy places of each city.
Mapstr is an app that enables you to keep track of all your favorite places around the world, tag them, and find them on your very own map!
